God’s ways of doing life are really best. Usually they require more discipline, some sacrifice and the road to His best are not always easy. Just in writing this now the obvious shouts at me. God’s ways are best because He created life. God can be trusted to always model the excellent posture in anything that we do. Why is it so hard for us to comply and follow Him? I find as I slowly volunteered to surrender my will it was where my path either met freedom or bondage it was so hard for me. I was used to “governing” myself and my life. When I was pretty young, it was apparent to me that I would have to take care of myself. I wasn’t sure I was going to get the support I needed or to rely on other people. This was a gift from God for that season. I didn’t make the best choices, but He did protect me from so many things. When I was 19 I looked back on my high school years and realized God’s hand was protecting me. The path that I was on was sad and often left me very lonely but He was there. I find myself here years later not wanting to let go of that independence. That time gave me a great gift from God. But as I am now older He is impressing to me that I can relax. I don’t have to have it all figured out. He is allowing me to rest in His Sovereignty. He is bringing some restoration to some broken places in my heart. From the weariness of having responsibility at a time when I just needed love. This is also where He is breaking me of perfection and control. When we hear the word control it is has its own negative connation to it. So many of us judge and fail to realize wanting control comes from a place usually of great pain. We are given the opportunity to steward what God has given us. This is so awesome, it gives us the freedom to handle what God has given us well for His glory. It releases the pressure and expectation to try and control anything outside of what God has placed in our lives to nurture. For you controllers out there, stewarding is your God given opportunity to channel your sense of control and honor God with what He has given you. Where you struggle could potentially be where you have the greatest impact. Think about that for a moment.. As it says in 2 Corinthians 12:8-10 from Paul – Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time He said, “My grace is all you need. My Power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the Power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong. I love that Paul asked God persistently and God met Him graciously with His power. For those who are in seasons where your time, brain and schedule is filled to the brim, can I tell you that He has empowered you with His grace through your human weakness. That helps me breath just thinking about that. It also convicts me to receive this grace to myself and release it to others. God is good to show out in situations that confuse our world in the most unlikely people and places. I Corinthians 1:27 says Instead, God choose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And He chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. Did you catch that? When God’s grace intersects with our willingness in our weakness with humility He does powerful things the world does not understand. How awesome is that? When we think about Jesus and how He entered this world, and the tone of humility through out the Bible there is hope for us. God doesn’t just create us, He planned out our lives for us Ephesians 2:10 is confirmation of this promise: For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. So if He created us, planned our story then He has empowered us for our life! He wants to be in relationship with us AND HE provides for us when we need Him most. As Christian grows that need goes from an occasional need to a moment by moment need from Him. God doesn’t leave you hanging, you can rely on Him to help you. So if you are overwhelmed you are in a good place. Look up to God, share you heart with Him. Ask Him to intersect your chaos so you can rest and watch Him do the heavy lifting! Lord, thank you for being so perfect in Your love for us. Would you meet us in our weakness right now? Would you do the supernatural and reposition favor over the areas where we just want to give up? We repent of the control we try and take and release that back you. Give us wisdom to embrace our part and steward it well and watch you do what only You can do. Thank you so much for Your awesomeness! In Jesus name amen!
